For many students, spring break means beaches, parties and a much-needed break from class and work.

And for those who are traveling to a tropical location where they might be seen wearing a swimsuit or other revealing ensembles, it also means working out to ensure they have a beach-fit body to show off while on vacation.

But with barely more than a week before spring break officially kicks off, time is running out to tone those muscles and get in shape.

I visited State of Fitness, 2655 E. Grand River Ave., to learn a few quick and easy exercises to help show you how to get in shape for the upcoming break.

Devin Mongrain, who is a certified personal trainer at the gym and also an MSU alumnus who studied kinesiology, taught me some exercises to work out the parts of my body I would want to look their best if I were taking a trip for spring break — my arms, legs and core.

After working on those body-toning moves, Mongrain also showed me three cardio-focused exercises to end the workout with.

Most of this exercise routine can be done from the comfort of your home before you head for the sun and sand.
