Hawk Island Snow park not planning to reopen
Despite a few limited openings in the past week, the Hawk Island Snow Park in Lansing is not planning to open again this year unless the temperature drops and the area receives a substantial amount of snow. Urban Snow Parks LLC Project Coordinator Pete Boscheff said the warm weather comes at an inconvenient time, as the park was scheduled to host an event sponsored by Burton, a snowboarding company, later this week. Boscheff said the company spent tens of thousands of dollars to bring the event to Lansing, and park employees were saddened to cancel the event. “There is too much rain in the forecast to keep the park open,” Boscheff said of why the park will likely be closed the rest of the week.
